ITALY IN 10 DAYS

Italy is one of the most alluring places in the world and offers so much to the discerning traveler- from amazing landmarks and ruins, a world-renowned cuisine, culture, and fashion to historic museums and art. There is so much to do and see in Italy that a ten-day trip is hardly enough for a fulsome experience.

 

Here is a ten-day itinerary from the United States covering the cities of Rome, Florence, Venice, and Milan.

NEW YORK

Day 1 Departing from the US and arriving in Rome

  • Best United States gateways to fly out of when headed to Italy includes; New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston. Please book your hotel ahead of time so you can relax before embarking on your adventures the following day!
     

Day 2 Start your journey through Rome

  • Guided tour of the Vatican Museums. You will experience the renowned Sistine Chapel and the famous frescos of Michelangelo among other things such as the spiral staircase and the Raphael Rooms. The duration of this tour is approximately 4-hours and highly recommended that you book in advance.

  • Visit the Trevi Fountains and St. Peter’s Basilica, these are both free attractions that can be cover in less than an hour each.
     

Day 3 Rome

  • Explore the stunning Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, the Colosseum, the Pantheon and the Roman Forum. The time needed for each of these attractions is about an hour and can usually be covered the same day.
     

Day 4 Take a train to Florence

  • The easiest and most cost-effective way to get to Florence is by train. When taking one of the high-speed trains, you will get to Florence in about 90 minutes.

  • Do the best of Florence walking tour- this includes a tour of the Accademia and Uffizi galleries, the Florence Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio which are some the most outstanding landmarks in the city.

 

Day 5 Continue exploring Florence

  • Visit the Florence Cathedral, the Palazzo Vecchio, the historic center of Florence and the Fountain of Neptune.
     

Day 6 Take the train to Venice

  • The best way to travel between cities in Italy is by train. Which should take a little over two hours between Florence and Venice.

  • Take a stroll through the Piazza San Marco and see some of the most stunning landmarks in Europe, including the St. Mark Basilica and St. Mark’s Campanile.
     

Day 7 Experience Venice on the water

  • Venice is surrounded by water and has an extensive network of canals and bridges. You can take a boat tour around the city with panoramic views of the beautiful architecture and design. After the boat tour, you will go rafting down the serene waterways.

Day 8 Experience the art and culture of Venice

  • Do a walking museum tour through the city, visiting notable museums such as Doge’s Palace, Museo Civico Correr and the Ca’Rezzonico museums.

  • Board the train for two and a half hours to Milan in the evening.
     

Day 9 Shopping and sightseeing in Italy’s capital of style, Milan

  • Shopping in the ornate 18th century Galleria Vittorio Emanuele arcade and find the best high-end brands in Italy.

  • Visit the Teatro Alla Scala opera house for a classic Italian opera show.
     

Day 10 Board your flight to the United States

  • Board your flight from the Malpensa International Airport to the US.
